Student’s info / Study visa
FOR LONG STAYS (ABOVE 90 DAYS) FOR WHATEVER PURPOSE ALL FOREIGNERS ARE REQUIRED TO HOLD A VISA, EVEN IF THEY ARE CITIZENS OF COUNTRIES WHICH DO NOT REQUIRE TRANSIT OR SHORT-STAY VISAS.
So students, coming from non-EU Countries and intending to enter Italy to study at IED (for a period longer than 90 days), need a VISA for STUDY, application for which can be made at the Italian Diplomatic and Consular Representations in the country of residence.
IF YOU ENTER ITALY WITH A TOURIST VISA, YOU CANNOT ATTEND ANY STUDY COURSE BECAUSE YOU CANNOT HAVE A PERMIT TO STAY FOR STUDY.
Documents required
A) VISA application form (www.esteri.it)
B) recent passport-style photo
C) passport or trvel document valid for at least 3 months after VISA expirying date
D) proof of enrolment/pre-enrolment in course of study (with the numbers of hours of daily study and lenght of the course). The certificate must be issued in two copies and stamped by the Embassy, one to be kept by the authority and one by the student
E) documentation of educational history in the Country of origin
F) proof of available means of support to stay in Italy (no less than Euro 5.061,68)
G) declaration of the availability in Italy of appropriate lodgings as well as funds necessary for repatriation
H) insurance coverage for medical treatment and/or hospitalisation
