Student’s info / How to enrol
Three Year Courses
Filling in the Application Form.
Italian students: have an interview with the SIO in your chosen location first and then fill in the application form.
Foreign students: download the Application Form attached below, fill in every part and send it (by fax to +39 0254101493 or by e-mail to int.info@ied.it).
Pay the enrolment fee.
Paying guarantees that you get a place assigned in your chosen course and sets things in motion for you to get your enrolment certificate.
Foreign students need this Enrolment Certificate to start making their visa applications.
If your country of origin asks for a document proving that you have been accepted to study at the school, our administrative secretariat will produce the Certificate of Admission that you need.
You must now send these documents to the administrative secretariat in your chosen location:
- the original application form, complete filled in;
- a copy of your high school leaving diploma or the equivalent (translated into Italian if necessary);
- a certificate of proficiency in the language used for the course you have chosen (for foreign students or for those who have chosen to attend a course held in a language that is not their own);
- four passport-sized photographs;
- a photocopy of your passport or of any other currently valid identity document.
To simplify everything and speed up the admissions procedure, you should send the following documents in advance to this fax number +39 02 54101493:
- a copy of your Application Form;
- a copy of the receipt demonstrating that you have paid the enrolment fee;
- a copy of your diploma or equivalent (translated into Italian or English);
- a photocopy of your passport or identity document.
Transferring from another university
Students who have attended an equivalent course in another institution of higher education or university can enrol directly in the second year or, in special cases, in the third year of our courses, bringing their examination credits with them.
We always recommend a personal interview with a member of our SIO staff, who is best placed to advise you and channel you towards the most suitable training course for your particular requirements.
It will then be up to the course co-ordinator to hold another personal interview with you, before deciding whether you are a candidate for direct enrolment in this way.
To set the administrative procedure in motion for direct admission to a year after the first, you should send the following documents to IED location you have chosen:
- a copy of your high school diploma;
- your credentials from the university or college attended, complete with information about your study curriculum, credits, examinations passed and the number of hours per course;
- a portfolio of 15-20 designs (this number is purely indicative) with an accompanying document that describes them and details when they were done.
No later than two weeks after your complete documentation has been received, you will be contacted for an interview with the course co-ordinator: if you cannot pay a visit to the office yourself, you can ask to be informed about the result of the admissions procedure by telephone or e-mail.
Once you have received confirmation of direct admission, you can start up the normal admissions procedure: fill in the application form and pay the enrolment fee.
Masters courses
In this sector of the training we supply, IED offers courses with different types of duration and didactic structure. There are numerous titles and the hours of attendance, the duration of the courses and the methods used to teach them may vary from one course to another.
This section illustrates the general characteristics of the three different types of course offered under this general heading: Advanced Training Courses, Masters Courses and Research Masters Courses.
If you would like to receive more detailed information, please fill in this form and send it to the Masters Office: you will soon be contacted by e-mail or telephone.
The enrolment procedures described here apply for all kinds of Masters courses. But before you start enrolment, we advise you to establish direct contact with the staff in the Masters Office at your chosen location, who will provide you with all the more detailed information you need for each specific course.
To start the admissions procedure, you should send these documents to the staff in the Masters Office:
- your CV, with a description of your education and your professional experience;
- your designs portfolio or a representative sample of the work you have done. You can send this material by e-mail or on a CD (obligatory for Research Masters courses);
- your application form. You can download this form here (PDF Application Form) and then fill it in.
These elements will be used in our selection process.
If your language is different from the course language, you will also have to show your proficiency in an interview in the course language. If you live abroad, your language proficiency may also be tested in a telephone interview with the Masters course co-ordinator or with a member of our Masters Office staff.
You should put all the documents necessary for starting up the admissions procedure in an envelope that clearly indicates which Masters course you have chosen (for example: Portfolio for admission to the Research Masters in Industrial Design) and send them to the Masters Office.
Annual, Evening and Summer Courses
